De-Marked Spam Comments
It seems to be getting more difficult to figure out what comments are spam and what aren’t. My spam catcher is usually very good about filtering the legit comments from spam, but every once in a while I run across one that looks like it should be real. If a comment you post doesn’t show up, I apologize. Getting 40+ spam comments a day its impractical to filter manually. Today I de-marked one comment and am still unsure about it. This got me thinking: I wonder how common it is for legit comments to get marked as spam for other bloggers. A reader poll is born.
Intelligent Spam.. or Not
For the last few months the spam collecting on in the delete folder of this blog is on the rise. In many cases the spam has gone from gibberish to a seemingly legit comment. Or is it? A closer look reveals that the same comment appears by another user. Big coincidence? The name of the commenter always happens to be a business or sales pitch. Red flag.

Comment system SezWho
I have decided to finally try out and add the blog commenting system SezWho. It basically gives a rating to the comments people leave and allows you, the reader, to vote the comment’s relevance. It also adds a voting system to the posts as well. (Not sure if I’ll leave that operational for the network)
Using SezWho also gives you a profile. It shows who you have commented, the quality of your comments, and links to your blog. In a way, it’s a cool incentive to add for people to leave better comments. As of today, I received an email announcing the partnership of SezWho and Entrecard. As you know, I use Entrecard on a select few of our blogs. I will be expanding the use of it and adding SezWho to every blog. The partnership allows you to get credits for leaving comments now. Its something that I give high praise to. Before this partnership, Entrecard gave you traffic but it was a quick click through that didn’t really benefit the blog. I look forward to working with this system and to see the results of this new partnership.
Just for the record..
I wanted to clarify something about a follow up comment I received. On my post regarding borderline personality disorder, I do not personally have this. I am in psychology and was writing ABOUT the issue. I received a comment of sympathy for my “condition”. I am just fine and have not been diagnosed with this disorder. In any case, I do want to thank my readers for the comments you send in. If you post them on this blog or any other blog in the blog network, I thank you. It’s almost like a pat on the back saying, “job well done”. So keep sending them in, entertain me or my other authors, and please please don’t assume I have the disorders I write about.
