North Korea out of touch

without comments

The North Korean threat cycle has been nothing new but their latest threat is their latest spectacle of showing just how out of touch this country truly is. The warning of wiping America off the map is nearly something to laugh at. They may have millions of soldiers ready to fight on command, but we have the technology and military might to crush any attempt. Well we used to, but I like to think we still do. Don’t encourage Obama to cut defense spending because you never know what my present itself for our country to overcome. The tensions rise as we trail one of their ships suspected of delivering illegal weapons in defiance of the latest useless U.N. resolution. The games need to stop and the world has to be firm against the North Korean propaganda machine.

Los Angeles out of money to test rapist DNA

without comments

This is absurd. Money in California as a whole is thrown away on the most wasteful projects, meanwhile the L.A. sheriff has put on hold the testing of rapists DNA. The one piece of evidence that can certainly link the perpetrator to the crime, rapists will have the luxury of committing their crimes without the worry of getting caught. That’s just brilliant Los Angeles. Relocate some of the wasteful spending and get these offenders off the streets.

Today the Iranian protests continue and new videos keep leaking out of the violent state crackdown. Sites like Twitter serve as an organizing/ communication hub for the Iranian protesters. You can follow some of the stories yourself… Remember, these are Tweets coming from people not only in Iran but around the world so its only as accurate as the people reporting. One I just read was disturbing and just goes to show how ruthless the regime in Iran is…

“Woman shot, baby shot in womb”

Keep up on the latest with the website monitter.com. They collect Tweets that correlate with keywords such as Iran. Its very interesting to be able to see news directly from sources in Iran. Send your Tweets in support!

Robot Snake/ F-22

without comments

This slithery little spy serpent is a pretty cool gadget unveiled by Israel that could be used on the battle field. It really does appear to be a giant snake from a distance. I wonder how many enemies have a snake phobia?

Along the topic of cool battle field toys, the F-22 Raptor is far from child’s play. I believe its the very essence that defines American Air Force power. As the pilot mentions, superiority over any other aircraft an enemy can launch is a pretty darn awesome feeling. Too bad Obama capped production to cut costs while spending more on wasteful areas of government. In any case, North Korea doesn’t stand a chance against this machine if they intend to take action.

Anti-smoking bill hopes to reduce teen smokers

with 2 comments

This bill will give the FDA power limit what goes into a tobacco product, new products from being produced, and restrictions on tobacco farmers. Furthermore, the warning label will cover 50% of the front and rear packaging with a bold WARNING listed. Flavors are outlawed. I wonder how far that will stretch to include hookah and cigars. Hm. There are plenty more regulations than I have listed, but the point is: The government has too much control.

I wonder how many people don’t realize the dangers of smoking by now? I wonder how many teens are going to do it anyway despite the government’s best regulations/bans? I’m all for reducing the number of teens who smoke, but doing so by government control is not the answer.

Power Hungry

without comments

Taking a look back over the last decade It’s pretty apparent how much more power the government has taken upon itself. As of today, Its out of control. Bigger government equals more spending which equals record debt fueling the fire of inflation. Now there are a number of issue that bother me with how the current administration is handling the economy and foreign affairs, but three items recently have cause for alarm.

1. The Pay Czar. (Also other “czars” the administration has appointed)

2. Attempting to give and most likely will pass, the FDA power over tobacco regulation.

3. Government majority owned banks and government majority owned General Motors.

The Pay Czar: I can understand executive pay oversight for companies that received tax payer’s money, but leave other private companies that have nothing to do with it out. Take the Pay Czar with a grain of salt and be aware of any over reaching in power. Heck, he’s not accountable to congress….just Obama. Hmm.

FDA Power: Now don’t get me wrong, I’m against our children smoking. This historic move is a bit too much though in my opinion. This bill is giving the FDA too much power and will potentially be intruding on constitutional rights. Let me say it again, too much power.

Banks and GM: Ok, while its hard to see some of America’s greatest and largest companies go under, I think ultimately that should have been the case without government assistance. Stay out of business and stay out of markets. The government is pumping money into failed companies like no tomorrow expecting to resurrect them to life. While the government might be able to accomplish that task, where does that leave the competing companies who actually made it without help? Do they stand a chance? Time will only tell.

Long story short.. We need less government, more competition, and absolutely no more spending.

The right to give Miranda Rights?

with 6 comments

The circulation of news that the Obama administration is ordering the FBI to read certain terrorist captives/ suspects their Miranda rights just sticks me the wrong way..

No Way

I believe once a person has done an act of terror against or plotted the United States they should in no way, shape or form be treated as a normal criminal. That includes certain rights that the United States reserves for civilians such as your Miranda rights. This is wrong on so many fronts. This will inevitably hinder the gathering of intelligence. [The right to remain silent] [I want my lawyer]. Since when can terrorists have a lawyer? Duh? Have we gone soft on the people who want to do America harm?

D.C. Shooting

without comments

I have debated whether or not to post anything on this topic. This guy just snapped and had extremely radical ideologies according to his site. This is sad but no different than any other radical group preaching hate messages. If you do a Google search using his name you will dig up a whole world of white supremacy and racist articles/sites that most people are oblivious from in America. [james von brunn]

Catch of the Day

without comments

A commercial Fisherman in Florida hooks the most unexpected catch. How about a missile? Yes, an air to air missile was “caught” while long-line fishing. How it got there in the first place is left to wonder but the missile was said to be very unstable from corrosion. I don’t think I would have taken this catch aboard my boat. That’s just my opinion.
