What do Conan and Super Mario have in common?
As Serious Lunch points out, Conan O’Brian’s new set looks like it came straight out of Super Mario Brothers. Good eye…I thought I was a Mario enthusiast. Cool!!
What’s in an energy drink?
…..my favorite energy drink.
A good article explaining what’s in the most popular energy drinks while also decoding myth from fact. Its an interesting read nontheless even if the effects of the “ingredients” are more harmless than anything. As always, its an individual issue. There is always the “special case” or person who reacts to something.
Kindle
I’ve heard this [Kindle] mentioned here and there but never really understood what it was. Today, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to look it up. I knew from previous hearsay that it was some type of book reader. I was under the impression (formed in my own mind) that this was an application for smart phones or software for computers. I was wrong. It is its own entity, an electronic reading unit that you can purchase books from etc. It’s a good concept but there is nothing quite like holding a book in your hand and flipping every thin paper page as you progress through your journey. [Hard to explain, but its just not the same]
Thunderstorm Blogging
Call me crazy, but there is something refreshingly, exciting about blogging in the midst of a thunderstorm. (under appropriate shelter of course). I’m not sure if it is the pitter-patter of rain drops or the bolting sounds of thunder that entice me the most. Of course, I am the one who also likes to sit on the porch in the morning sun with a nice warm cup of joe. Striking contrasts.
The bacon cake

Along with the likes of the bacon brownie, this takes the cake…literally. Let’s have a bacon cake birthday next year.
Introverts travel differently
I thought this was interesting. Never thought of it before, but introverts travel differently than extroverts. Most travel programs (TV) portray traveling as a time to meet new people as well as immerse yourself in a culture with a fellow travel group. The lesser talked about introvert would prefer it differently. Possibly travel alone or explore a foreign city quietly by themselves. They would more than likely skip the night life. Seems rather lonely doesn’t it? Not to the introvert.
Study suggests the obvious
Sometimes I think science (or some people in the field) waste time and money with nonsense studies that seem to be more common sense or in this case: who the heck cares. Study suggests that the store name on a prescription medicine bottle is larger than the instructions. The warning print is smaller yet. Really?
Brownie recipe with…Bacon?
Kind if intrigued to try this recipe while being simultaneously grossed out by the bacon. Don’t get me wrong, I love brownies…I love bacon. The two together? hm
Wellness for a cause
This is a wonderful opportunity. The folks over at Bumble Bee Foods are donating 15 cents for every mile you run/walk daily to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. This is a great way for you to not only get in shape for the summer, but help out a great cause as well. One of the neat things about this program is that you can actually calculate the mileage of your running/ walking route right on their website. Once you log your miles in, you can find out how many calories you have burned through. Then you can enter in the meals you eat to see how they offset the calories you are burning through exercises for a well rounded wellness program. What can be better than getting yourself in shape while helping support the Breast Cancer Network of Strength that provides much needed emotional support to the people who need it most.
Join BeeWell Miles and network with other participants, speak with experts on how to live more healthy, share your favorite running route, or just provide your fellow exercise buddies the support needed to log those miles in! You’ll also be eligible to win prizes for your participation. Sound cool huh? Check them out and make a difference for yourself and someone else.
Swine Flu
So far there is no evidence to suggest that the swine flu is any worse than the regular flu. The media is portraying this flu as something we should be “terribly worried” about. Aware..yes, worried…no. Now is not the time to panic. Stay informed and use simple common sense about preventing the spread of this flu.
1. Wash Hands!
2. Don’t send your kinds to school for a couple days if they experience flu like symptoms.
3. Stay informed. Don’t panic.
