Mobile Web Browser (Skyfire)

with one comment

One of the worst qualities of the mobile internet is sadly, the browser. Internet Explorer mobile edition is in ancient times. Microsoft has truly dropped the ball at that. Opera mobile has its qualities, but contrary, its issues. Finally, the savior is here…

Skyfire mobile browser seems the be the light at the end of the tunnel. This browser claims it can run anything a PC browser can run and display it at full webpage view. Knowing this and from viewing the demo on their site, this product will revolutionize mobile internet. I have recently signed up to participate in beta 1 of the testing phase and I should be getting my download link shortly. I will be testing it on the Palm Treo 700wx (windows mobile). As soon as I get it, I’ll post my official review and how it performs on my phone. Check back for updates.

Three Biological Pigments: Chlorophyll, Retinal, Melanin

without comments

Biological pigments in living organisms are used to capture energy from photons, that then go on to perform a specific task.

Chlorophyll, Retinal, and Melanin all absorb certain wavelengths of light and are produced in biosynthetic pathways.

Chlorophyll is found in plant cells and is used to absorb photons that creates energy and drives photosynthesis. Retinal is found in the eye and is used in visual photoreception. Melanin is found in skin, hair, and eye color; it absorbs ultraviolet radiation to protect DNA.

WordPress: Problems Posting

without comments

It has come to my attention that there is a bug in WordPress that seems to affect certain computers and not others. Maybe I shouldn’t jump the gun and call it a bug, but it’s a problem and it’s affecting one of my writers.

First and foremost, the issue does not allow the writer to post pictures or create links. It just opens up with a blank box that follows your mouse around. See below:

I’ve done some research on this and have discovered several other people having the same problem. It only affects certain computers or even browsers, but not others. No one seems to be able to offer a reasonable solution to this matter. There has been some talk about it being a problem with your server or host…but again, works fine on some computers, but not others. It cannot be the sever. If anyone has any suggestions or similar problems, comment me up.

Floating Docks

without comments

Floating docks are a great way to spruce up any pond. They are light weight and easy to install. Forget the old fashioned wooden docks that deteriorate over time.

Advantages: Disadvantages:
Easy to install Higher priced
Longer lasting
Slip resistant
Instant dock

Alzheimer’s Cure?

with one comment

NBC Nightly News just aired a segment about Alzheimer’s Disease and a possible vaccine. Scientists are studying the brains of mice and think they have located the region of the brain where Alzheimer’s begins to develop. According to their study, a single protein is responsible. Based on this recent information, a new drug is being tested and is in the final stages of clinical trial. When the results come out later this year, we will find out if we are on a major break through of this mysterious disease.

Make money and eat well…

without comments

Hi, My name is Mike Marlow owner of Marlows Fisheries & Lake Management. We’ve been raising live fish for farm ponds and back yard ponds for over 20 years. We also build ponds and provide products to our customers. You may be wondering what this has to do with “making money and eating well.” Lets just say, if you have a pond on your property, you may have a gold mine and don’t know it.

Most people don’t think twice about a pond as it becomes a beautiful focal point for the property. What I mean is, with a little fixing up, your pond will transform from a liability to an asset. On average, a property with a well maintained and stocked pond will sell for 10 to 20% more $$$’s than one that is not maintained or without a pond at all. How’s that for adding value to your property.

If you have a pond on your property and are not in the market to sell, why not make it work for you. Here’s how, grow your own fish for consumption. Everyone knows fish are high in nutrients important to our diets. With the price of fresh fish soring ever higher it makes sense to grow your own. Stocking your pond with the right amount of hatchery fish can yield you several ponds of fresh fish annually. In most cases you can stock a half acre pond with 3″ to 4″ game fish for less than $300.00. Obviously 3″ fish are not large enough to eat. But, with the right amount of feed, within two years, you can have a crop of food size fish that can be harvested from your original stocking. With proper management, your pond will produce several pounds of fresh fish each year even without restocking.

Next time I will offer fast fish growing tips. Until then, please respond with any comments or questions. Have a great day.

Reasons I Blog

with one comment

I recently came across a discussion that talked about reasons for blogging. It was interesting to see the differences of opinion and motivations people have for blogging. I decided to make a post about it and here are my reasons:

Studying: I use my personal blog as a study tool. It helps me by being able to write out my notes or create an outline based on what I’m learning. (yes, college student) And why not share what I’m learning? Maybe someone would find it useful.

Money: Of course I focus on making money with my blog and network. It’s almost like a part time job running all of this and making no money would put a cramp in my already “broke” college lifestyle.

Hobby: Having a personal blog is fun. It’s my hobby.

Experience & Knowlege: There are a wealth of technical skills and knowlege I get from blogging. First of all, gaining knowlege of basic coding is a must if you want a catchy template. Secondly, it constantly improves writing skills.

And maybe just a little bit of fame! What are your motivations to blog? Do you have several reasons or just one? Do particular motivations have an effect on success or failure of a blog?
