Working At Night Raises Cancer Risk

without comments

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071129/ap_on_he_me/night_shift_cancer;_ylt=AgS4C9S8mI_kwDC28BKbYIqs0NUE

It appears to be true. We already knew that night shifters are more prone to being sick, but now it’s a cause of cancer as well. And, this one just makes perfect sense…..worse than just working night shift, is working swing shifts.

Iceland The Best Country To Live In??

without comments

That’s according to an annual report released by the United Nations.  The report looks at things such as per capita income, life expectancy, education level, etc.

According to this report the five best countries to live in are:  Iceland (isn’t it cold there?), Norway (ditto on the cold question), Austrailia, Canada, and Ireland.

The United States is number 12 because we don’t do real well in the life expectancy.

Dick Cheney Has a Heart????

without comments

I know, I’m not sure I believe it either, but according to this news story, Cheney had to have his heart shocked back into normal rhythm.  Also, according to this article, he had four heart attacks before becoming VP in 2000.

My boss just asked what keeps him alive:  voodoo?  black magic?  human sacrifice?

without comments

I just have to ask, is it really that hard to use a condom?

Clinton, Obama, and Healtcare

without comments

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are continue to argue over eachother’s health care plans.  I must admit that I dont’ know anything about Obama’s health care plan, except that it would leave 15 million Americans uncovered.  I know that much because I hear it from Hillary Clinton EVERY NIGHT!!

Eating Monkey Meat?

without comments

Well, reading the news over the holidays I found out that some African cultures have a tradition of eating monkey meat for special occassions.  Apparently, eating monkey meat is also considered to be somehow spiritual.  There is a case happening in New York City where Mamie Manneh has been charged with meat smuggling, and federal prosecutors says she is a menace to man and beast alike.

My first thought when I started reading this story was, “Who cares if she wants to eat monkey meat?”  But, apparently there’s serious health risks in eating monkey meat such as getting HIV, SARS, Ebola, and monkey pox.  Bet you all forgot that HIV originally came from the apes.  I don’t know if eating monkey meat is how it got into the human population.

Archbishop of Canterbury Blasts US

without comments

The Archbishop of Cantebury blasted the US’s policy in Iraq, saying that the United States is worse than Great Britain at its peak.  He said the United States thought a short burst of violent action would “clear the decks.”  Is he wrong?

Obama and Hillary

without comments

I’m starting to think that we need to start a blog just to keep up with the sparring between Obama and Hillary Clinton.  Really, we do need a nice big bowl of popcorn and a score card to keep up with this.

Over the weekend the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Clinton campaign had “scandalous information” about Barrack Obama, but they were going to be nice and not release it.  Of course, that just got people speculating about what it was.  Obama basically said put up or shut up.  So, now the Clinton campaign is denying it ever said any such thing.  But, somehow Obama is guilty of mudslinging in this?
