Chasing Mummies

without comments

Chasing Mummies is the new hit show on the History channel that follows Dr. Zahi Hawass and his fellows as they uncover the mysteries of archeology around Egypt. Its a great show, but the scripted factor seems to over shadow the documentary element. The fellows seem to be “dumbed” down and not real students on a fellowship. The situations are ridiculous and the drama is over the top. We all like to see Dr. Hawass yell, but where is the learning? I think its the perfect made for tv drama.

The universe: Gravity of Thought

without comments

Do you ever wonder what keys the universe holds? What makes up dark matter and what are the physics that expand beyond our current theories? This is mainly a thinking post. Just think about it for a bit. Think about the wonders that we have yet to discover that will change our understanding of the universe forever. The unknown is a powerful force that drives human minds into submission. We have a plethora of discoveries to make within our world and out. I have to take a moment just to think about the sheer gravity of it. Let your mind wander.

Memory Technique

without comments

Do you ever find it difficult to remember a name or random object? As simple as these may be they present themselves as some of the hardest little things to remember. I often use a memory technique to make objects, names, and concepts come to mind more easily. Let’s say we have an airport lot number C27. Remembering this lot number the traditional way can be tricky. Here is how I did it…

Make the numbers/letters into a shape. Take the two and place it upright, then flip the 7 on its back so its facing upright, and finally lay the C right in the middle of the two and 7. This sounds complicated in words but here is an illustration:

If you use your imagination you can visualize this into an airplane. 27C is now in the shape of a plane to be used as the cue to remember your airport parking lot number.

Your cat can tweet

without comments

I bet you never thought that your cat could tweet. This day has in fact arrived. Sony has developed a nifty device that can track your cat’s activities via Twitter. Your cat doesn’t actually tweet but the device will send out its own tweets when your cat is sleeping, eating, or on the move. It is also equipped with a camera and GPS. Kind of cool if you ask me.

I got an iPad

with one comment

So I got an iPad this weekend. Let me tell ya, its one of the coolest electronics I’ve played with in the last two years. Don’t worry, I’m not an Apple fan boy…this is the first Apple product I own along with an iPod. One aspect that stood out the most to me was the battery life of an iPad. It can go almost all day being used without having to run off to find a quick charge. That is a much needed feature to see as my laptop computer can’t even make it an hour. (What’s the point in a portable device if it won’t stay portable or cut off from the grid for less than a couple hours) I’m still messing around with iPad apps and am in the process of picking a new book to buy from the iTunes store to be my first ebook read for this device. I was also impressed by how responsive the touch screen is. I was skeptical of this device prior to getting it, but I am now a changed iPad opinion. I’ll update later as I find other cool features and uses that this device will help to fill in my electronic and non electronic life.

P.S. I was one of the few who were making fun of its name. It grew on me.

I want an island

without comments

So you know you’ve made it big when you can afford to purchase a private island. It’s something of envy; truly an accomplishment of wealth. Sir Richard Branson is part of the elite island league with his own private island: Necker Island. It’s a true paradise and one of Richard Branson’s homes. Of course he rents it out for anyone who would like a taste of billionaire lifestyle. You can always start a multi-billion dollar company like Virgin and get your own island, or you can pay a cool 36,000 a night with 16 other guests to stay here at Necker. What a lifestyle, right? I want an island.  Take a look for yourself..

Date Night!

without comments

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 20th Century Fox. All opinions are 100% mine.

Date Night staring Steve Carell and Tina Fey open in theaters Friday April 9th, 2010. This is one of those romantic comedies that you do not want to miss! I love both Steve Carell and Tina Fey so this will be one of those classics. In case you are wondering, the movie is about a bored suburban couple played by Steve and Tina who face a very interesting date night that is anything but routine. The find themselves in the midst of breaking and entering, a shootout, a car chase, and a showdown with an underworld boss at a strip club. Now that is a date! Their adventure comes to a close with some scratches and maybe a bruise but they have renewed passion for one another as a result. Date Night Movie is not one you should miss. Go ahead and check it out on opening night and see for yourself. Maybe take a date and just hope you don’t find yourselves in a similar situation. Watch the trailer, it looks hilarious. Steve Carell and Tina Fey play their parts perfectly and its a match made in comedy heaven. I know what I will be doing this weekend! Check it out. I have included the trailer below.

Pollen Season

without comments

Have you been wondering why the allergy season seems so bad this year? It has to do with the prolong cold winter. The trees are just now budding out and that is creating havoc on the sinuses. I can say that here in Florida the pollen is so thick that it covers my car in a yellow film. Just yesterday I was caught in a “pollen storm” or though it seemed as I found myself in a patch of swirling pollen that happened to be on the breeze. Do any of you have any good allergy or pollen stories? Welcome to spring!

Courier “Announced”

without comments

Was this a mistake or are they just fueling the fire. Microsoft announced the Courier on “accident” in their latest blog post on the official Microsoft Jobs Blog. You can view it now and you notice that everything Courier was mysteriously removed. Here is what it said before “editing”:

Do you already know everything about Project Natal and the Cloud? Is Blaise Aguera y Arcas’ jaw-dropping TED talk on augmented-reality Bing Maps and Photosynth last month’s news? Then check out some of the online chatter surrounding new releases of Window Phone 7 series handsets, Internet Explorer 9 and the upcoming Courier digital journal.

For those who have subscribed to their RSS feed in a reader they were able to see the cached post and behold.. the Courier announcement. Also, check out nearly all of the comments regarding the Courier and almost nothing about what they actually left on the post. Quite amusing none the less. Microsoft has caught the public eye once again. It will be interesting if they have anymore “mistakes” to drum up buzz. They know what they are doing.
